This is the Cookie Policy for Shahnanigans, accessible from www.shahnanigans.co.uk.
This Cookie Policy explains how Shahnanigans (“we”, “us”, “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies on our website.
1) What cookies are
Cookies are small text files stored on your device (computer/phone/tablet) when you visit a website. Similar technologies include pixels, tags, and local storage. These technologies can be used to make websites work, remember preferences, measure usage, and support advertising. For more general information on cookies, please read "What Are Cookies".
2) How we use cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies for the following purposes:
A) Strictly necessary cookies
These are required for the website to function and for security. They do not require consent.
B) Analytics cookies (Google Analytics)
These help us understand how visitors use our website (e.g., pages visited, time on page) so we can improve the site. We only use analytics cookies if you consent.
C) Marketing/advertising cookies (Meta Pixel)
These help measure advertising performance and may help us reach people with relevant ads. We only use marketing cookies if you consent.
D) Functional cookies (Calendly embedded widget)
Our website includes an embedded Calendly booking widget. This widget may set cookies to enable booking functionality, maintain session consistency, protect against bots/abuse, and remember preferences. Where these cookies are not strictly necessary, we treat them as non-essential and require consent.
3) Consent and cookie controls (UK PECR / EU ePrivacy)
Under UK law (Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations – PECR) and EU rules, we must obtain your consent before placing non-essential cookies on your device. This includes analytics and advertising cookies.
When you first visit our site, you will be presented with cookie choices. You can:
- Accept all cookies
- Reject non-essential cookies
- Choose your preferences (where available)
You can change your preferences at any time by using the cookie settings option on our site (if available) or by adjusting your browser settings to block/delete cookies.
Withdrawing consent will not affect the lawfulness of any processing carried out before you withdrew consent.
4) Cookies we use (typical examples)
Cookie names can vary depending on configuration and updates by providers. The following cookies are commonly associated with the services we use:
A) Google Analytics (Analytics)
- _ga (used to distinguish users) – typically up to 2 years
- _ga_* (used to persist session state) – typically up to 2 years
Google Analytics may also set other cookies depending on configuration.
B) Meta Pixel (Marketing)
- _fbp (used to store and track visits for advertising measurement) – typically up to 3 months
Meta may also set additional cookies depending on configuration and whether you are logged into Meta services.
C) Calendly (Functional)
Calendly embeds may set cookies such as:
- __cf_bm (Cloudflare bot management) – typically about 1 hour
- _cfuvid (session consistency) – typically session
- _calendly_session (booking/session management) – typically up to around 21 days
Calendly may also use cookies related to its own consent banner/settings and performance measurement, depending on how the embed is implemented.
Important: Calendly provides its own cookie management and may display its own cookie banner within the embedded experience.
5) Third-party embeds and links
If we embed or link to third-party content (including Calendly) those third parties may set cookies when you interact with their content. We do not control third-party cookies. Please review the relevant third party’s policies for more information.
6) If we add new advertising technology (e.g., TikTok Pixel)
We do not currently use the TikTok Pixel. If we add it in future, it may set cookies and similar identifiers for advertising measurement (TikTok indicates cookie expiry may be up to 13 months). If we implement it, we will update this policy and require opt-in consent before those cookies are set.
7) How to manage cookies in your browser
Most browsers allow you to:
- See what cookies you have and delete them
- Block third-party cookies
- Block all cookies from specific websites
- Block all cookies entirely
If you block cookies, parts of the site (including booking functionality) may not work properly.
8) Updates to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy to reflect changes in cookies we use, our services, or legal requirements. The “Last updated” date above will show when changes were made.
